We assume that if God heals us that keeping the healing is automatic. This is not the case. Healing is a manifestation of the grace of God. And the things we receive from God, we must possess by faith and maintain by faith. We have an enemy, the devil, whose desire is to keep you weak, sick, poor, defeated and bound. John 10:10 is called a pivotal passage of Scripture. It is important for every believer to have this truth firmly planted in their mind and heart. Jesus said, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (or, have it in abundance).”
The nature of God is abundant life. The nature of the devil is to steal, kill and destroy. He is the god (ruler) of this world system and is set out to destroy and oppose everything that God is, and everything God represents. The following Scriptures tell us that the devil will come immediately after we receive the Word of God, or a healing, and try to take it away from us. Pain or symptoms may occur that immediately bring fear into our mind. Or, we may think that we really did not get healed. This is not the truth! Every good gift is given from God. He would not give you something good – healing is good – and then take it away. God is not unjust. We must recognize the tactics of the devil and stand against him in faith. If symptoms return to you after prayer, go to the Word of God and find a promise to base your faith. Do not be moved by the symptoms. This is simply the enemy trying to persuade you to let go of your healing. Then stand against the lie of the devil with the Word of God. He must flee. If this happens to you, and you are having problems standing in faith, do not hesitate to call another believer who can agree in prayer with you. Remember, one can put a thousand to flight, two can put ten thousand to flight. There is power in the prayer of agreement!
“When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart.” Matt 13:19
“The sower sows the word. When a person hears the word, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.” Mark 4:14-15
“Be careful! Watch out for attacks from the Devil, your great enemy. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for some victim to devour. Take a firm stand against him, and be strong in your faith.” 1 Pet 5:8-9 (NLT) ‘
